5 reasons why companies need online video

It is always great to read an article about our business sector – corporate video – that talks up its economic relative dynamism. The BBC article, Corporate video conquers the internet (Fiona Graham, December 3rd 2010), brings me out in a warm glow which in the current snowy weather conditions – and icy economic climate – is very welcome. The article describes the monumental rise of online corporate video since 2005 and the advent of YouTube. More companies are harnessing the power of video to:

i) communicate core messages
ii) drive internet traffic to their websites
iii) make visitors stay longer when they arrive at the website
iv) deepen the branding of their product offering
v) create entertaining and engaging calls to action

to name just five reasons! It is slightly concerning that the first example given of a company utilising video to extraordinary effect is an Australian male underwear manufacturer who have “patented, pouch-enhancing technology” to give blokes that need it, or just want it, that extra ‘styling’. However, this well researched piece goes on to explain that, in fact, every type of company – not just articulated male underwear manufacturers who have a huge potential voyeuristic audience – including SME’s can take advantage of online video.

The projections for online corporate video are like a glass of warm mulled wine as we say goodbye to 2010 and move into an uncertain 2011. Here at Xube we are ready to meet the challenge and can help you with all aspects of your video marketing needs from production to hosting. Put a Xube video on your front page for 2011!
